If the applicant has been searching for work for several months, but says that there are no suitable offers, then it is likely that he is either not a very good specialist, or his salary expectations are clearly overstated. How to answer the recruiter’s question about the offers of other employers?

Do not pretend to be a star for which all city recruiters hunt without exception. “I am known as an excellent specialist, I have many offers, everyone promises a high salary and is even ready to provide a separate office,” if in reality this is not so, an experienced recruiter will probably recognize your fraud.

Experts also do not recommend belittling their abilities, telling the recruiter in paints how difficult it is to find a “woman with a child”, “a specialist for 40” or an inexperienced graduate. Remember: the words that you have difficulty finding a job can negatively affect the assessment of your professional qualities, and therefore the amount of salary that you will be offered.

And yet, in answering this question, do not be fooled, it is better to proceed from the real situation. If you have a job offer, tell the recruiter directly what time frame you need to make a decision. And if a vacancy in a company seems more interesting to you than already available offers, be sure to mention this and explain why. “I was offered the position of a customer service manager at a Russian bank, and I must make a decision by the beginning of next week. At the same time, you should not name specific firms and organizations to which you are invited. Firstly, this way you will not become an involuntary informant about what is happening in a competing company. And secondly, the world is small, and the recruiter may well be familiar with his colleague who has already made you an offer - why risk a real job-offer? Limit yourself to the general description: “a small company for installing plastic windows”; "Edition of the women's glossy magazine"; "Design company - startup"; “Large agricultural holding”, etc.

Experts do not advise speaking negatively about those who made you an offer. “They offer to go to work in a publishing house next week, but they have poor marketing, and it’s not interesting for me, especially for a small salary,” this answer is not only unethical, but also tells the recruiter that he is an expert who is not ready to overcome difficulties.
